Courage is the ability to face danger- pain- difficult people- without being overcome with fear. It takes courage to face each day. We really do not have control of what happens in our daily lives. Yes- we have some control over choices and what we do or where we go, however the surprises in life- the unexpected events sometimes takes great courage to face.
In my personal life I face issues and I have to ask God for courage! I have noted in the Bible that most of the people God chose to use in mighty ways needed to ask God for courage and for help. I love the fact that David was always asking God for help- forgiveness and for God to help him. But from creation of man- we have all needed God! and we need His strength and courage in our lives to make right choices!
Joshua 1:9 …”Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
1 Chronicles 19:13…. “Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the LORD do what is good in His sight.”
What are you facing that you need courage today? Ask God to help you. A number 1 issue today is the political uncertainty and economic downturn. Trust God. Ask for His provision- His strength- His solution- I almost wonder if ….perhaps God is waiting for “great nations” to humble themselves before Him- so that He can take charge of the lives of those who love and obey Him and call him LORD!
God knows what we think and who we are. I am reminded it is time to for kids to start school. Do you know how much courage it takes to walk into a school building these days? Do you know how much apprehension goes on in the hearts and minds of both kids and parents? Do you know how much garbage, bad attitudes, bad language and unfair things that go on in the classrooms and hallways? It takes COURAGE!
College students are excited to leave home and live in a dorm. They think, “freedom” however when they arrive on campus the butterflies fill their guts and they need courage! All of a sudden the only freedom they have is not living with their parents but with a stranger- who may or may not be a roommate who they can get along with! Then they realize there is no privacy in a dorm at all- and only life has shifted from the comforts of home, to a life that is full of challenges- and responsibility! And- they need courage!
What’s on your mind today? The best hope and courage is in Christ Jesus! Ask Him to give you courage as you face today’s uncertain moments!
