When I was a young girl God became a part of my life. I remember climbing old pecan trees with hopes to get closer to heaven so I could know God. I had a fear of God and a deep curiosity of what God was all about. I also had a drawing by His Spirit to be kind and compassionate. I remember from about the third grade through high school I desired to be a missionary. The only thing I knew to do was to serve others. I would jump off the school bus, grab a bite to eat, study then off I’d go to the neighbors to see if I could serve them in any way. At that time all of our neighbors were senior adults and so they had lots of time to talk and some of them would give me snacks. Often times I would sweep the porches for them and just keep them company. All I knew was that I had a deep desire to do “good deeds.”To this day that desire remains ingrained within my soul. But I have a greater spiritual understanding of living as Christ according to the scriptures. When I was young – God guided me and taught me because I talked to Him all the time. As the years go past now at 52 years old I comprehend deeply “death to self” and “to live is Christ, and that His Spirit guides us constantly. As we yield to His obedience He directs our path.What good deeds are you doing in other people’s life? Are you willing to serve Christ even to give a cup of water in Jesus’ name?Beloved- Read the Bible and ask God to direct you and teach you. I have held a Bible in my hands since I was a young child. I am not a Bible scholar- but I know Him- He has walked in me as I have surrendered death to self so that His Holy Spirit lives within me. Prayer accompanies my life and He speaks and guides. All my life I have asked God for wisdom, knowledge and understanding of “who” He is and I will say…”I love the Lord my God with all my heart, with all my mind, with all my soul and with all my strength!” And I hope I can continue understanding “loving my neighbor as myself.” I so desire to obey His commands.Well take the challenge! Read your Bible, Pray and ask God where He wants to send you to help others and do a good deed in Jesus’ name. If we will tell of God’s good deeds- He will teach us how to in return do His good deeds in the lives of others.Psalm 73:27-2828 But as for me, it is good to be near God.I have made the Sovereign LORD my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
