This past weekend was an exciting time to preview God’s power. We had storm after storm with flooding that is from Arkansas to Nashville, TN. I had not seen so much rain fall from the sky for a long time. Lightening in the night time lit up the sky with a blinding light. Three days of storms and rain. For much of the time during those days the tornado sirens blasted. Winds whirled tree tops and the lawns could not soak up enough water. The low places of the golf courses were pools of water. Many times during the worst part of the storms I prayed and praised! I prayed that God would protect the boundaries of our property from flood and wind damage. I praised God for the power of Heaven! He is the All-consuming God. In fact Psalms states a wonderful reminder and says….”whatever the Lord pleases, He does, in heaven and on earth.”With that verse in mind I believe all things that happen on earth are reminders to us to re-focus and remember “Who” the Creator is and to remember His power and might. Several times I raised my hands and praised God for the Awesome God that He is. I also thought in my meditations, “Lord reign down in my soul and teach me about You during the storms.Well, no damage to our house or property. But up the road toward the entrance of our neighborhood shows a different story. Tall pine trees were snapped, uprooted and the back yards of about six houses looks like a war zone! The roofs are damaged, some of the roofing was blown off and it is such a varied contrast to our part of the neighborhood. One lady invited us to get out of our car and go out back to see for ourselves. She said you cannot get a right perspective till you walk back to see the giant pines broken and lain all over the yards and golf courses. I admitted to this lady, “I see next time I must widen my prayers and ask God to protect the entire neighborhood!” Standing in her back yard made me thank God for Divine protection yet I was feeling a bit guilty that I had not widened my prayers after seeing so much damage! In all things pray, and my challenge is that God would show me how to widen my prayers even more and to see more of His power and strength as I pray! 11 Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours.Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;you are exalted as head over all.12 Wealth and honor come from you;you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and powerto exalt and give strength to all.13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.
