I love the topic of prayer. I love the relationship with Christ through prayer. I deeply love the Beloved- Holy God whom I pray. My devotion to prayer began at a very early age. I felt God drawing me near to Him. I knew there was a God and I had a fear of Him. I also remember going off by myself when I was very young to a quiet place talking to God. I would in my childlike faith say things to God like, “who are you?” or “where are you?” For some reason God drew me to Himself very young. Thus talking to God through prayer and praise gradually has taken me through life “watching God answer prayer.” Yes I believe in the power of prayer and I believe God’s power is yet to be seen.I attend a Wednesday night class and we are studying Living a Praying Life study guide by Jennifer Kennedy Dean,. God has set before me an awesome teacher and a teacher who grows each week along with the class of ladies attending. Let it be known that we will never on this side of heaven and in our human minds ever conceive the depths of prayer unless we surrender to pray constantly and in all things. The 73 year old teacher of our class on prayer said a remarkable statement as she got started in teaching. She said, “You’ll have to take me as I am.” She actually was talking about how she skipped around or how we did not always go far in the book, but she taught the things God’s Spirit led her to teach us. But her statement indeed is profound when it comes to our prayer lives. God accepts us all, just as we are! He never denies the humble heart that seeks His forgiveness or instruction. As you pray, take time to be still so that you can hear God’s Spirit speak and guide you. We also were reminded a very simple truth that many people miss, “God speaks in the Spirit and He confirms it in His Word.” What is God speaking to you about? Are you lining up with His word?Isaiah 50:4-5 is a powerful verse to study: “The Sovereign Lord has always given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught. The Sovereign LORD has opened my ears, and I have not been rebellious; I have not drawn back.”Make this verse your prayer. If you cannot, then ask God to forgive you in all areas of disobedience and follow His instructions.God wants to answer your prayers! He wants you to come to Him.
