We Must Pray For Americans in Haiti Jail

Well the news hit hard on families after the team was charged with kiddnapping in Haiti. There seems to be lack of honesty and integrity when it comes to the “leader” of the team. It is ironic that nine people have suffered because their leader was dishonest and not upfront. It is likely she will reap what she has sown over the years. But- we must pray for Laura. We do not know her personally- but we do know in such a mishap of life- your sins will find you out. So we must pray for mercy from God that in confession there will be forgiveness. But we will always face consequences when we ignore laws of the land or commands from God.

I read the morning on CBS that a lawyer is desperately attempting to get the people out of jail. The team has learned a difficult lesson. If you look on Utah/Idaho Southern Baptist website- you will read a reminder to team up with mission agencies to prevent such events that has unfolded.

For some reasons unbeknowst to all of us- this situation in Haiti is most likely a warning cry for all churches who want to go on a mission trip. Team up with people who know the laws of the land and get specific information.

Did nine people followed a leader who was not knowledgable of the country’s laws, when warned- dismissed the warning for some reason and kept the team blind to that warning?

We do not judge, but we pray. Our friends are in need of prayer support and encouragement. I believe what was meant for Good- God will still make known in the lives of the men and women who have faced a most difficult time. To God Be the Glory – if our human mistakes will take us back to the feet of Jesus.
