I have been guilty of saying, “I am just not happy!” What a negative thing to admit. Should I be content in whatever state I am in as Paul says in scripture or am I to wrestle and confess as David in Psalms over my mistakes? I think my answer is yes to both!
Ever tried to balance something on a scale? It is virtually impossible to keep the balance on the scale. If you are quick handed you can adjust the scales to find a balance. In Proverbs you will find the outcome of an imbalanced scale when trying to cheat another person of goods.
I have heard for years, “we just have to find a balance in our lives.” Is balance possible or probable?
So- what does “Happy” mean to you and how do you find that state of “Happy?”
I cannot find “happy” in people, places, things; I mean happy that last more than a few moments. I find disappointment in people, places and things.
My “happy” state of mind comes when I am in a quiet corner talking to God. Or sitting outside looking up towards the heavens watching and waiting for God to show me things in the heavens. I also find “happy” when I can give to others, pray for others or encourage!
Are you in a state of “discontent?” Why?
Ecclesiastes 3:11-13
11- He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.
12- I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live.
13- That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil—this is the gift of God.
