Proverbs 12:5-6
5- The plans of the righteous are just,
but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.
6- The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
but the speech of the upright rescues them.
Our wonderful son is married only a few months. His wife is sweet, kind, honest and loving and we are so thankful God introduced the two of them to each other. This morning through a couple of texts I wanted to let our daughter in law know she was accepted and a valued part of our family. It is important every time we open our mouth or communicate via emails, texts, phone or face to face that we speak kind words to people.
Ever been down or needed a kind word spoken to you? Think about that place you were at when you wished someone would speak a kind word to you!
Today be challenged to bypass any preconceived idea you may have about a co-worker, family member or acquaintace and simply speak a kind word to them. We must not be so wrapped up in ourselves that we cannot offer words to people that build them up. Freedom of speech has gone to the opposite end of the spectrum. We hear so many angry and negative remarks through television, radio and other venues of communication. Therefore make a purposeful difference in what comes out of your mouth.
Speaking gentle, kind and healing words to people do build them up and we will never know how our words affect people postively and yes negatively!
Richard Baxter wrote….”We must feel toward our people as a father toward his children; yea, the most tender love of a mother must not surpass ours. We must even travail in birth, till Christ be formed in them. They should see that we care for no outward thing, neither liberty, nor honor, nor life, in comparison to their salvation… When the people see that you truly love them, they will hear anything from you…Oh therefore, see that you feel a tender love for your people in your hearts, and let them perceive it in your speech and conduct. Let them see that you spend and are spent for their sakes.”
