Psalm 43:5
5- Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
for I will yet praise him,
I love the questions asked by David! Are you familiar with the question, “Why are you downcast, Oh my soul?” I think we do not verbalize in these terms but we sure have the same meaning when we confess, “I am so depressed, or I am so upset!”
Situations in our lives do make us ask questions. But David went to the right source. He was asking God, “WHY.” Yes I believe we are free to ask God why! It is natural to ask God questions. If we listen He will take us to scripture that will answer our why!
When sin is ruling our lives, the natural answer is to confess and ask forgiveness for sin. We are downcast when we carry around guilt and sin. Sin also separates us from God.
A lady came to me crying. She was so downtrodden in her spirit. After praying with her and discussing he issue that had driven her soul to be downcast then she asked God to forgive her and to help and guide her in he situation that had driven her to helplessness. She finally admitted that she had gone against God’s plan and knew it.

Psalm 43
1- Vindicate me, O God,
and plead my cause against an ungodly nation;
rescue me from deceitful and wicked men.
2- You are God my stronghold.
Why have you rejected me?
Why must I go about mourning,
oppressed by the enemy?
3- Send forth your light and your truth,
let them guide me;
let them bring me to your holy mountain,
to the place where you dwell.
4- Then will I go to the altar of God,
to God, my joy and my delight.
I will praise you with the harp,
O God, my God.
