Final Inspection

On Monday should have been the final inspection on our house! Needless to say the repair man is here making last minute repairs that seemed to have come up in the past couple of days! It is my hope and prayer that all repairs are done on schedule and that God will continue to provide financially, emotionally and physically during this time.

The Monday inspection did not happen!! We had to request a 24 hour delay for the inspection. The hot water heater has heated its last tank of water! Monday could not settle the issue but after many tears, phone calls and mercy- a new hot water heater was coming to be installed on Tuesday.

I was to the state of exhaustion because I was filling cracks and painting, making sure all safety issues were worked on, to make the house the best I possibly could.  The exhaustion came when I could not relax! Every time I sat down or thought about ending my day there was something else to take care of. Two days were wasted waiting on painters to come touch-up some areas I could not reach. To my dismay they totally stressed me out by sloppy workmanship!

Another day was spent with repairmen re-doing work the first crew messed up! Costly indeed to re-do work. But it had to be done. With Mitch working out of town we had to work swiftly within a short time-frame before final inspection!

Interestingly enough and adding to the frustration, the door from the house into the garage literally jammed! I tried every trick I could manage. I tried sanding the top, hammering the face boards and hardware, and nothing budged or changed! So with a blessing Mitch contacted a man who knew just the perfect person to come and help me!

That blessing turned out to be the help I needed! Needless to say one of the reasons a door would jam would be, “a poorly hung door!” After the guy re-structured and re-hung the door it worked like it should. He checked other doors and reworked hardware to make each door close correctly! Part of these issues were the house settling!

Many things have made this move a lot more difficult which I was surprised by! Oh I thought this time it would be so much easier because we do not have kids to worry about! We don’t have schools to worry about or doctors to consider for Dustin’s medical condition so I thought it would be easier!

“Not!!! At all easier!” The first thing is the house is taking a long time to sell! Yes the economy, beyond that just not a typical setting. I have no children to distract me from the imperfections of the house this time! It was me managing and discovering how to multi-task and pray at the same time! After all I am not a carpenter, so I had to rely on the Master Carpenter, Jesus to guide my steps and processes!

Some day there will be a “final inspection of our lives!” How are you doing? Are you hiding something in your life that needs to be fixed? Only the professional carpenter knew how to fix my sticking door! In reality the “Master Carpenter Jesus” can fix, forgive, remake you from the inside out!

When the inspector comes, I want to have an extremely clean house with everything within my reach to be right and forthright!

Some day Christ will return and there will be an accountability day! How’s your life on the inside out? Are you allowing Christ to do inspect you daily? Are you asking God to fix the cracks and broken places in your life? Don’t delay asking for God’s forgiveness, and certainly don’t delay pleasing God in all that you do.

The final inspection is over in this house! Not much to report, other than we are told there is NO PERFECT HOUSE! Inspectors are paid to find potential problems and will do so just to make the buyer feel like he is earning his money!

The funny thing is: We thought 6 months ago that our house was ready for final inspection because we had work done then and new carpet installed! But just days before final inspection, I realized there were more and more things to do because I wanted to present the very best I could to the buyer! I want the buyer to be satisfied enough to continue the buying process.

With inspection papers filed we continue to move forward to a closing date!

Jesus, the Master Carpenter, the Great I Am, is the “Final Inspector!” Will you be prepared in your heart, mind and soul? He will fix cracked and broken places in lives! He restores us, He will prove His power over and over again!

I look forward to the closing date! I want to eventually share with you [the details] what God is doing in our lives through this difficult transition! I want to reflect God’s goodness to you because He continues to reveal, unfold and reflect every reason this season of our lives have been challenging!

It is all good in the end as it will be on the final day of this world IF we set our gaze on things above! One thing I have learned is there are seasons of craziness and walking out of this season has sometimes been indescribable yet I know My Redeemer Lives and He is our “final inspector!” Why would we not want to be the very best for Christ?

How are you doing? Is Christ your priority even in difficult seasons of life? Are you obedient to God?

2 Thessalonians 1:6-8

“God is just: He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus.”
