God’s Plans For Life!

John Calvin said…. “Therefore the Christian heart, since it has been thoroughly persuaded that all things happen by God’s plan, and that nothing takes place by chance, will ever look to him as the principal causes of things, yet will give attention to the secondary causes in their proper place.”

I have recognized God at work in our lives. Our family constantly seeks God’s plan and will for our lives. Yet in reality we sometimes wonder “why at this time in our lives?” However it is those uncertain times when we are not in control that God proves His plans for us.

It has been six months this month that Lifeway has phased our Pastoral Ministries as it was when Mitch began his career and ministry there. Just like many people around the world we are constantly praying to seek God’s plan for our lives. The timing could not be worse! The housing market is declining, the Christian ministries are searching out to hire younger ministers– now what?

It’s alright if we ask “now what” in our prayers, because we are simply asking God to direct our path. We earnestly seek to follow Him and the plans He has for our lives. If our dependence had been on any other worldly source we would devastated! But our focus remains on Christ and we trust in His plan for our lives!

Soon our plans will completely unfold and I am assured that God’s plans are unique and in a place and setting we could not have chosen to be! But if we follow God’s will and plans for our life- we know God will enlighten our path as we faithfully line up with His will!

Daily routines have been different, but we have not allowed the world to disillusion us nor weaken our faith in Christ! It is the journey ahead in Christ and we cannot see all the details, but we acknowledge that He loves us and cares for us.

What about you? Are you in a similar situation? Does your walk in this world require faith in Christ and not the things you see in front of you? Are you wondering if God is totally in control of your life? Do you hesitate to depend completely on God?

1 John 4:15-17… “If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like Him.”
