Teaching God’s Word!

Billy Graham said…. “The word of God hidden in the heart is a stubborn voice to suppress.”

The phone rang this morning and it was a dear friend who was calling with a concern. Her concern was that her two young boys had been entertained in preschool while she attended worship; by a movie called Shrek. My friend comprehends the lack of Bible teaching her boys are gaining while at church! As we discussed this issue I made a comment that at our church a young adult was in class yesterday and the question was posed, “who did the donkey talk to in scripture?” She replied, “Shrek!” Perhaps it was an answer to entertain, but she honestly could not or did not give the correct answer!

Needless to say in both instances, on the same Sunday morning, the same was being spoken about in Bible study time! A green creature called Shrek! The attempts to educate young children and young adults must have a higher standard!

We must not only teach God’s truths but we must make right choices if we are teaching any age group. Teaching is vital and teaching biblical truths can be fun and interesting to all age groups. We must teach the Bible to young children and remind young adults to engage in Bible study for the purpose of learning and living God’s word daily! The following verses give us proof of knowing the word and if we teach young and old God’s ways, many will stand firm and follow biblical truths!

Psalm 119:99-101…”I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey Your precepts. I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey Your word.”

Psalm 119:130…”The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.
