What Happened To The Gospel?

Leonard Ravenhill said….“If Jesus preached the same message minister’s preach today, He would have never been crucified.”

When I discovered this quote this morning — I was thinking about what to blog today, I laughed out loud when the quote proclaimed such a bold message! There is great truth to this quote! As Christians, it is our privilege to know Christ, but it is our duty to share the gospel.

What are our ears tuned into in the churches today? Is evangelism briefly mentioned in passing or is the church profoundly impacting the world?

I find it tragic that missionaries go all over the world to evangelize, yet the local church declines to teach this responsibility. It is my hope and prayer today that we take every opportunity to share the gospel and hope of Christ! Leonard Ravenhill also said, “Today’s church wants to be raptured from responsibility.”

1 Corinthians 15:1-4…”Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…”

Last evening when I read in the headline news that a young army soldier had been arrested for passing out “gospel coins” with the message of John 3:16 written in the language of that country; my heart became keenly aware that the body of Christ needs to note — the world and it’s religious institutes are closing to the message of hope in Christ! Yes, the duty of that soldier as a Christian is to share the gospel message, yet as a soldier in the army he was trained not to share religious messages.

What about you, the church? What are you talking about? Are you a soldier of Christ in a land that has freedom to share the gospel of Christ?
