Does it Pay to Serve God?

For thousand of years the faithful followers of God have occasionally wondered if it was was worth it to serve the Lord.  Usually these doubts were never expressed aloud.  However toward the end of the Old Testament some actually began to voice their despair claiming it was useless to serve God.

The Bible makes it clear that everyone faces similar temptations.  Thus, we must admit that we too have at times had our doubts about the Christian life.  To encourage us the Prophet Malachi tells us that God has a Book of Remembrance.  In it He records our good deeds, and ultimately on the Day of the Lord we will be rewarded.  Here are five aspects of that future reward.

  1. We will be treasured.
  2. We will be loved.
  3. We will be healed.
  4. We will be happy.
  5. We will be victorious.

On that Day of the Lord when God judges the wicked and rewards the righteous, we will say, “Yes it paid to serve to God — it was worth it all!”
