Staying Connected!

Romans 15:4-6…”For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the scriptures we might have hope. May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Spring break is over! Just eight weeks more of college and our daughter will be a Junior!  That is very exciting for us! However staying connected is vital as we encourage our daughter’s successes and times of discouragement.

One of the most wonderful tools for staying connected with our college student is the cell phone. The family plan truly is allowing us to remain connected. Just this morning Mitch dropped her off at the airport, but before she left I said, “now cal me after you get through security.” Ring- “mom I am through security.” A few moments later, Ring-”Mom I am at the gate with my Starbucks coffee and muffin.” Ten minutes later, Ring- “Mom, we are going to board the plane.” Then a few moments passed, “Mom, I am on the plane, and I love you.”

Staying connected is such a blessing. But our connection to God always is forefront in our relationships with our two young adult children. Not only do we check on one another but sometimes the phone rings and there is a voice at the other end, miles away saying, “Mom will you pray for me?” So because of that family plan we can pray together, and the burden of her heart is taken to the cross. Of course there is always plenty of encouragement and positive influence purposefully spoken.

In your day today, stay connected with God through the avenues of prayer and Bible reading. God loves you! God has a family plan and we can call on Him at any time of the day or night and He will encourage us, and we can know His presence in our lives. The Christian family of God is vast so stay connected, don’t isolate yourself from God or people and family who love you and cares for you.

Mother Teresa wrote… “Let there be kindness in your face, in your eyes,in your smile, in the warmth of your greeting…Don’t only give your care, but give your heart as well.”
