C.S. Lewis wrote….”God, who foresaw your tribulation, has specially armed you to go through it, not without pain but without stain.”
I was cleaning out an area of the house today and found an email from my friend and author Kathryn Lindskoog. In her note she was sharing her life’s journey and her focus in finding God. Kathryn was the last living– first generation C.S. Lewis scholar. By some miracle we became acquainted. Just two weeks before she took her journey to heaven I enjoyed a very memorable few days in her home just talking with her. In fact her husband said he hand not seen her so deeply engaged in conversation for weeks.
Kathryn had been stricken with MS many years ago and by the time we began to correspond via email, all she could do physically was to move her head, speak, and of course her vision was great. She spent hours just typing with one finger on her laptop just to send me a note.
Kathryn never complained about MS nor did she blame God that she suffered. She walked through her tribulation with grace and the anticipation of an eternity with Christ. Nonetheless Kathryn continued to research and work as she prepared avenues to keep her Lewis Legacy newsletter moving forward.
Her success and her determination was such an inspiration. I will always remember her encouraging words to me. She even encouraged me to write. She said my letters to her enlivened her and brought a fragrance of life that she knew God was sending to her through me.
Yes, God foresees our tribulations and we will make it….
Deuteronomy 31:8…” The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
