Montague Toplady wrote… “Since much wealth too often proves a snare and an encumbrance in the Christian’s race, let him lighten the weight by ‘dispersing abroad and giving to the poor’; whereby he will both soften the pilgrimage of his fellow travelers, and speed his own way the faster.”
Some of the blessings we often miss are right in front of us. Helping others is a blessing because we help meet a variety of needs. I am challenged today to meet the needs of others. I am truly blessed to be able to give so that others in need can receive.
Perhaps you can take the challenge today and help someone in need. Look outside of your circle of life and ask God to shine a light on a need that you can meet. Not only will those who receive be blessed but you and your church will begin to see God meet a multitude of needs. Extending our hearts, our time and money will be a two-fold blessing.
Romans 12:13 “Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.”
Prayer: Lord, help us to see people’s needs and to be willing to help others unconditionally with an overwhelming love and a spirit of hospitality. Lord, help us to give up the idea of our “wants” and to set our minds on things above, so that many people around us will be blessed. Help us to see with Your eyes of compassion and extend our help to the needy.
